FORT WORTH, Texas -- FamilyNet radio and television programming can now be heard on one of the largest satellite radio networks in North America, according to an announcement by SIRIUS Satellite Radio and the North American Mission Board, which owns and operates the faith-based broadcast ministry.
"On this new channel, listeners will hear a message of hope and encouragement that's as relevant now as it was at the time of Southern Baptists' initial radio broadcast in 1941," says Martin Coleman, FamilyNet COO. "We're grateful for this opportunity SIRIUS has given us to build upon our rich heritage in radio broadcasting."
SIRIUS provides more than 120 channels of commercial-free music, talk, news and extensive sports programming to subscribers across the country, all in digital-quality sound. The network has already begun airing audio versions of FamilyNet's most popular television and radio programs on Christian Talk Channel 159, and it will add new radio-specific programs after the first of the year.
"It's a goal for SIRIUS to be the leader in Christian programming, and we welcome FamilyNet's popular talk programming as the perfect complement to our Christian music offerings," says Jay Clark, SIRIUS Executive Vice President for Programming. "This addition brings another element of balance and diversity to our programming lineup."
Such popular FamilyNet programs as ACLJ This Week with Jay Sekulow, The 700 Club with Pat Robertson, and daily shows At Home -- Live! and Your Health will be heard on the new Christian Talk channel, along with some of the nation's top pastors, including Charles Stanley, Jack Graham, David Jeremiah and Bryant Wright.
In addition, special radio programs such as Way of the Master -- a daily two-hour program featuring actor Kirk Cameron and legendary evangelist Ray Comfort, plus leading evangelical talk personalities such as Dr. Richard Land -- will also be featured.
Christian Talk channel 159 will be the companion to SIRIUS' Christian music programming, which offers three commercial-free channels devoted to Christian Hits (Spirit, channel 66), Christian Rock (Revolution, channel 67) and Gospel (Praise, channel 68).
SIRIUS radios are currently offered in most new cars and trucks and in Hertz rental vehicles. Equipment and subscriptions are also available in more than 25,000 retail locations.
