Rowland Companies Builds New Worship Facility for Scottsdale Bible Church

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A recently completed major remodel at Scottsdale Bible Church never interrupted worship services during the six-month construction period.

This was a complete renovation of an existing worship space, says Tom Keilty, development principal for Rowland Companies. But by creating a temporary platform, removing the back wall of the worship center, and building a 26-foot-high temporary demising wall and dust partitions, we were able to keep the congregation in the same space for worship throughout construction. The new worship center seats 2,000.

The renovation represents Phase I of a multi-phase project. The first phase includes making the facility technologically current and demographically relevant, with advanced audiovisual systems that feature huge rear-projection monitors, theatrical lighting, an expanded stage, and state-of-the-art sound system," Keilty says. This phase also includes a new lobby, a bookstore, choir practice area and remodeled music ministry offices. Construction value is about $2.5 million.

The style of the new worship center allows more effective communication with church members, says Bill Rowland, CEO of Rowland Companies. It will accommodate a much more contemporary approach to worship. The original 1970s-era style of the worship center didnt lend itself to the churchs goals for today.

Phase II, slated to begin in 2006, will enlarge the worship center by another 300 seats with the addition of terraced seating.
