CHICAGO -- Seventeen years ago, Lesco Corp. introduced the WWJD bracelet that swept the world and challenged Christians to ask, "What Would Jesus Do?" Now Lesco is offering a wristband that challenges Christian to literally change the world.
Through the green Live Your Purpose wristbands, Christians can display their support for worldwide evangelism in a way that's trendy and financially contributes to ministry efforts worldwide.
The coalition behind the Live Your Purpose wristband initiative includes Massive Surge Network, The JESUS Film Project and Lesco Corp. The three organizations began the partnership based on their strong commitment to changing the world by bringing the story of Jesus Christ to the neediest parts of the world and planting reproducing churches.
"We want to help Christians understand the need for new churches and tools that easily and effectively share about the life of Jesus," says Chris Browne, president of the Massive Surge Network. "These green wristbands are a simple, yet impactful way Christians can play a part in changing their world." (Massive Surge Network's goal is to "reach into the next generation of church planters by forming strategic partnerships with individuals and ministries to equip those called by God.")
The green wristband is similar in style to the one available through the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It contains the messages, "Live Your Purpose, Change Your World" and has only been available online or through a limited number of bookstores until the partnership was announced.
The Live Your Purpose message is already receiving overwhelming support -- wristbands are being worn by people in countries as far away as Hong Kong, Russia, Mexico and the Philippines.
Breaking conventional rules of film distribution, The Jesus Film Project -- a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ -- has penetrated some of the most remote and dangerous places on earth with "Jesus," the most-translated and widely distributed film in history. "Jesus" has been translated into more than 880 languages and has been viewed in every country of the world. With every $100,000 contribution through the sales of the Live Your Purpose wristbands, The Jesus Film Project is able to translate the film into three new languages. With more than 4,400 known languages throughout the world, The Jesus Film Project hopes to translate the JESUS film into at least 500 more languages by 2010.
