It’s Gold for KoalaPlay Group!

11/01/2004

DENVER -- The confetti is flying -- in the form of thousands of colorful, soft foam balls -- as Paradise Park in Kansas City, Mo., and KoalaPlay Group celebrates the Golden Token Award.

Honoring creativity, innovation and design in Family Entertainment Centers (FEC), the International Association for the Leisure & Entertainment Industry (IALEI) awarded Paradise Park the Golden Token for Best New or Renovated Entertainment Facility for 2004. KoalaPlay Group, the commercial design and development division of Koala Corp., created the one-of-a-kind Foam Factory that's at the heart of the new facility.

IALEI handed out the award on Sept. 30 at the Fun Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., where hundreds of FEC owners and operators gather each year to hear about the latest trends in the family entertainment industry.

KoalaPlay Group’s Foam Factory at Paradise Park is 1,200 square feet and stands two stories, offering guests plenty of ways to have fun. Air-powered cannons, blasters and geysers fire more than 50,000 brightly colored foam balls through the air. Kids and families are entertained for hours as they maneuver across platforms, slide through tunnels and climb cargo nets to explore all the structure has to offer. KoalaPlay Group also equipped the structure with an elevator lift so children of all abilities who might not normally experience playground fun can access all of the interactive BallPlay activities.

"The Foam Factory is a major attraction at our new facility," says Jon Ellis, owner of Paradise Park. "It has been very popular with groups, birthday parties as well as our general walk-up traffic. Kids and parents absolutely love it.”

Designed with whole family in mind, the sturdy Foam Factory is equipped with activities that appeal to young and old alike.

“Interactive BallPlay is one of the most family-friendly and safest entertainment products on the market today,” says Steve Wagner, vice president of sales and marketing for KoalaPlay Group. “The action and excitement engages families to play and come back again and again, significantly influencing a park’s attendance and profitability.”

The indoor Foam Factory also provides year-round entertainment for an ideal escape from hot- and cold-weather temperatures.

“It's a great experience when you see how the combination of bright colors, action and interactive elements keep families engaged and coming back for more," Ellis says. "The Foam Factory is currently generating about twelve percent of our total revenues. We expect this number to be greater over the winter months."

Paradise Park opened in June. In addition to the Foam Factory, the entertainment center features bumper cars, miniature golf, go-karts, a game room, rock-climbing wall and batting cages as well as a children’s Edutainment Center designed specially for children 9 and younger.
