CCBG ARCHITECTS UNVEILS PLANS FOR TWO CATHOLIC CHURCHES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

09/22/2003

PHOENIX -- Phoenix-based CCBG Architects has designed two Catholic church renovations in Southern California, creating a new sanctuary for St. Margaret's Parish located in Oceanside, and a new parish hall and courtyard for Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, located in Calexico. Both projects are under the supervision of Darrold Davis, manager of CCBG's San Diego offices.

St. Margaret's Parish will add a new 21,000-square-foot, 1,000-seat sanctuary situated on an existing nine-acre site.  Construction costs for the project are approximately $4.1 million. The new sanctuary is part of a master plan designed by CCBG Architects that will allow for the construction of two additional buildings in the future.

Located only three blocks from the Mexican border, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church will undergo a renovation costing approximately $1.9 million, which will include a brand-new 12,700-square-foot, one-story Spanish Mission-style parish hall and a new courtyard located between the existing church and offices. Construction on the project will begin in late 2003, with completion expected in fall 2004.

"Our parish community is overjoyed as the new Our Lady of Guadalupe project becomes a reality," said Father Edmundo Zarate.  Currently, we have a space to worship, yet we have lacked an area for fellowship for almost ten years.

The new parish hall and courtyard will fill a crucial need for the church, providing a place where our community can come together in a relaxed social setting. After reviewing plans from several architectural firms, CCBG Architects was chosen not only because of their excellent ideas and years of experience designing beautiful churches, but also because of their spiritual yet practical approach to this project."

Over the last decade, CCBG has designed some of the region's most noteworthy projects, ranging from custom homes in the Pacific Northwest and desert Southwest to traditional and non-traditional churches in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington and Texas, and large-scale entertainment, recreational and commercial spaces for a host of owner-occupied businesses.
