I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED about our keynotes for the Church Solutions Conference & Expo! Chip Heath, one of the co-authors of “Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die,” will be headlining, along with Gabe Lyons and Tony Morgan.
One of my favorite pastimes at work is reading pastor’s blogs. I have about 30 saved as a favorite in my browser and I visit them all almost daily. Besides inspiring me, most of them make me laugh, which is probably why I follow them so closely. They’re the perfect thing to give your mind a little break during the workday.
Most of the bloggers I follow have “recommended reads” on the side of their blog, along with a link to their favorite bloggers.
I started to notice a common theme: Many of the bloggers were reading the same books, including Chip and Dan Heath’s (they’re brothers) New York Times best-seller “Made to Stick.”
The publishers of the book say this: “Chip’s research examines why certain ideas – ranging from urban legends to business strategy myths – survive and prosper in the social marketplace of ideas. These ‘naturally sticky’ ideas spread without external help in the form of marketing dollars, PR assistance or leadership attention.”
Although God is “sticky” enough, you – as church leaders – are constantly looking for ways to make your church, your weekly message, your marketing piece more effective. And you want to do it without the help of marketing dollars or PR assistance (more dollars) to reach current and future church members.
Chip recently spoke to a small group of pastors in the Bay Area and said he was so inspired by them. When he speaks to audiences he usually sees folks nodding and engaged, but these pastors he was speaking to were practically bobbing their heads up and down and scribbling notes as fast as they could because so much of what he was talking about related to their day-to-day jobs.
We hope you’ll join us in Phoenix in February to hear from Chip and to attend the 30 other education sessions being provided at the conference and expo from your peers and experts. To learn more, visit www.churchsolutionsconference.com.
Take care,
